The back cover 'blurb' (as industry professionals like to call it) for Book Four has now been released, providing a cheeky insight into what you can expect in the upcoming DestinyQuest novel. As the title of the book makes clear, we are a far cry away from the freezing cold north and steamy jungles of previous books. Instead, DQ4 will be taking us to the frontier towns of the badlands, and the Dune Sea itself, where pirates and treasure hunters ply the sand lanes in search of fame and fortune.

I truly know how Red Leader felt as he hurtled along that Death Star trench, his targeting computer ticking down those vital seconds as that all important exhaust port grew bigger and bigger. ‘Almost there,’ he assured himself, ‘almost there’. Sweat was running down his face, heart beating faster and faster, his goal was suddenly there – right there for the taking. He could be the hero.

Castles in the Sky - Manticon '16

A castle perched on a rocky hillside. Morning mist curling past the towers, moving in lazy clouds across the patchwork fields and forest stretched below. A perfect silence, broken only by the breeze, already warming in the sun, and the sharp cry of a sparrow hawk circling above.

That quiet sense of something

Hard to believe that another year has almost come and gone, and the time has arrived once again to mull over the ups and downs of twelve months in DQ world. To be honest, I almost wasn’t going to do my yearly review, as I rather off-handedly said to myself – well, there was no new book this year, so nothing to report. But then I realised, that really wasn’t true at all. In fact, this has been a great year for DestinyQuest and there is lots that is worth celebrating.
