Come back fighting!
Well, Book Three is finally finished and off to the publishers. Now I have some (rare) time on my hands, I can start addressing some of the niggling things on my 'to-do' list The first of those is a DQ combat tracker!
Portable for the masses
As I mentioned in my previous news update, 11 April will see the release of the new (and final) edition of The Legion of Shadow. This is the Gollancz Mass Market Paperback – so the most obvious differences are size and weight. But flick past the cover and existing DQers will notice a few changes.
To patch, or not to patch
April will see the re-release of The Legion of Shadow in Mass Market Paperback edition. In case you’re wondering what the hell that means, basically MMP is publishing speak for the cheaper version of the book, smaller and a little more portable (i.e. the size of your regular paperback). My editor contacted me earlier this week asking if I had any changes to make (bearing in mind, this would be the last time I could ever "fiddle" with the book). My immediate response was, ‘no, are you crazy?!’, after all I was relatively pleased with what I had achieved and didn’t want to start tinkering with what had gone before.
To stand alone
A question I’ve been asked a lot lately, particularly at my signing events for The Heart of Fire, is whether you can read the DestinyQuest books in any order or whether you should really start with Book One and play through sequentially. It’s a question that, I'm sure, should have a quick ‘yes/no’ answer but I always end up pulling my ‘constipated’ frown, chewing my lips and making ‘umming’ noises. It’s not an easy one to answer.
