Topic: Bleed rule in DQ-Raiders

  • Bleed rule in DQ-Raiders

    Hi,

I'm confused about the rule for Bleed effect in Destiny Quest Raiders:

    The rule :

BLEED — If this monster group is in the first rank and takes damage from a basic ability, the team take 1 damage.

    That's straightforward.

    Now, from the Combat Pad:

    8. Bleed and venom

"The bleed and venom hazards are common to many battles. They are designed to punish your team if you use the wrong type of ability against them – bleed deals 1 damage if you use a basic ability and venom deals 1 damage if you use a super ability. Taking this damage is often unavoidable as some monster groups have too much health to deal with effectively. However, it also pays to stop and think if there are ways you can change your strategy to avoid taking as much of this 'splash damage' as you can. It might be tempting to hold onto Johan's swiping claw or Jinka's giant's reach for a big threat, but if they can knock off 3 health from a bleed opponent (without taking a point of damage in return), then it is often worth doing. Scarlet's scatter shot is another prime example. This ability can blast multiple bleed opponents in the first rank, without taking a single point of retaliation damage. Go Scarlet (again)!"

How can you attack bleed opponents in first rank without loosing an HP since this is the very rule of it?

Also, do the group loose 1 HP EACH time the group monster receive a basic attack?

I'm very confused, thank you for your help.

Each hero has a basic attack, which is the ability they start with. This ability triggers bleed. Each hero also has super abilities (those you purchase with points.) using a super ability does not trigger the bleed effect. You can only use 1 ability in a hero’s turn.
