DQ3: Guardians Challenge

I have a couple of questions regarding the puzzle challenge in entry 600 of DQ3, with the diagram and the four guardians.
Does the passive damage curse from a shadow orb ignore armor? (E.g does it apply 10 or 3 damage at the end of every round, assuming default armor of 7)
Does a tremor orb's damage ignore armor as well?
If the answer to both of the above is Ues, then I think I have figured out a solution for the Special Achievement! Well, I can do it by also using an extra secret I found along the way here...
