Sammain and abilities besides Shatter shield

If you beat Sammain without the built in ability Shatter shield, but you use a temporary ability to lower armour, like Rust, does that count against the achievement?

The text should actually read:
If you defeat Sammain without using the Shatter shield ability, ...
So yes, you could still use other armour reducing abilities, like Rust, and that wouldn't affect the special achievement.
