Overload and modifier abilities

Can I use abilities such as Acid or Sear when rolling for Overload?

Yes is the short answer!
Acid and Sear add 1 to each die you roll for your damage score. Overload adds an extra die to your damage score. So if you were rolling two dice for your damage score (thanks to Overload) and had both Acid and Sear, you could add an extra 4 to the result - 2 to each die.

As the rules currently stand, no - as you are rolling damage dice (for Retaliation and Overpower) instead of rolling for a damage score.
