I love this great book! I haven't stopped playing since I got it 
I'm half way through part 2 and learned the pyromancer career. Can I still take items that have a mage requirement even tho I am not a pure mage any more or can I only take the rewards that say pyromancer?

Mage is your path choice - Pyromancer is your career choice. So, yes, you can still take mage requirement items and you can now select pyromancer items too.
Think of mage as being your main class and pyromancer as your specialism. Hope that helps!

Gollancz are publishing a 'special edition' of the first book in May. The second book, The Heart of Fire will be available in November next year.
