A great treat is in store for Fighting Fantasy and gamebook fans. FF author Jonathan Green has been locked away in a dungeon for the past year beavering away on a real passion project, a complete history of the Fighting Fantasy gamebook universe. The book itself has finally seen the light of day (as has Jonathan, who has emerged from his dungeon with only a slight nervous tick and occasional mutterings of ‘Baron Sukumvit’ to account for his many trials.)
YOU ARE THE HERO - a History of Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks is available in both hardback and a softback editions from all good bookstores and online retailers.
The book’s official launch will be at Fighting Fantasy Fest on Sunday 7 September. For his book, Jonathan has interviewed a mighty host of people associated with Fighting Fantasy and the world of gamebooks. I was lucky enough to be one of those chosen, so my words of wisdom (and possibly painful recollections of dying hundreds of times in Deathtrap Dungeon) have made it into the book – no doubt scratched in sizzling scrawls of lizard king blood.
