oh good timing!! I'm starting my second run at HoF this weekend so i'll be printing a load of these. When I'm finished with my second hero i'll post them up. First was a drake warrior now I'm trying for a healer mage. Torn between druid, acolyte, rune caster??? All seem good.

Any ideas when DQ 3 will be on sale? I have a bithday in October

No problem. The eBook is the Gollancz special edition, so it will feature all the extra content (the online quests etc). I'm not 100% sure if the Kobo Books eBook is the 'patched' version or not (a new version of the book came out in April, with some changes to items).

It is also small and light, which might be ideal for your apartment space ;)

I'm super excited about getting the ebook (I;m really trying to move away from print books - living in an apartment and space is at a premium!) and will definitely do so now that I've ready your post; what you've said makes total sense as to why the links were all screwy.

Hi.

I think the problem is that the preview version only has a handful of pages (like you say), so therefore most of the links will be missing (i.e. the links can't take you to a page that doesn't exist).

The preview (if it is anything like the Amazon 'look inside' feature) is just for you to sample the writing. I don't think the interactivity will be enabled properly.

At least, that is what I assume. As far as I know (and from what I have seen) the full eBook version works absolutely fine.

LoS on Kobo Books

I'm really keen to get the ebook of LoS from the Kobo Books store to read on my iPad. My concern is that I have download the preview/trial version (which includes the first several pages) and the links seem to be haywire - they don't link to the paras they're supposed to link to. Has anyone tried this version or would the moderators be able to confirm that the version on Kobo is playable?

I blundered past the joseph quest and didn't pick up the coat in blight haven. Not that it matters now becausse I picked up THUNDER and SQUALL from the savage arms set. My brigand is very happy!

I'll offer up a clue. If you're following the Joseph's coat sidequest, depending on a decision you make regarding the coat, an event will trigger at the coaching inn (Raven's Rest). Good luck!

I'm surprised you managed to get through with the Pariah career, I swapped it for Venomancer the first chance I got. I found that there weren't a lot of weapons with the rogue requirement in the book. Sure Grip did most of the work for me, its easily the most powerful skill in the book.

OK, thanks.
I did find it without any help thow, wich was quite an achivement for me, hopeless as ever with those puzzles!

I'm stuck on an other one now, in the red quest of act 1 that you get in the inn, page 51.
I've gone through a few possible answers, put nothing right yet.
A possible hint please?
( by the way, I loved seeing Eldias again-i've got his gun now! !)

Yes, I'm afraid that is one of the errors that crept into that edition. The text should read:

If you have a high brawn score and wish to learn the path of the warrior or the rogue, turn to 142.

What follows is a full listing of the changes that have been incorporated into the Mass Market Paperback edition of The Legion of Shadow (available from 11 April).

1. Item costs
Act 1 vendors and the Act 2 tavern tinker have now lowered their prices:

Entry 56 (Act 1 Apothecary)
You may purchase any quantity of the following for 5 gold crowns each.

Entry 68 (Act 1 Clothier)
You may purchase any quantity of the following for 12 gold crowns each.

Entry 175 (Act 1 Tinker)

dwarf puzzles solution

Hi!

Just wondering if anybody knows the solutions to the dwarven puzzles, in legion of shadow.

I'm doing the book a second time with a mage, and i'm just to curious to abandon it!

I'm currently stuck on the one in act 2, green quest page 465, but the other ones would be nice to, as i'm sure I will be confronted to them soon.

Not sure if a topic like this hasn't already been posted, if it has please say where it is!

I don't know how to get my magic higher I grabbed every plus magic item I could find unless I just missed items in act 1, also Im not very far in act 2 yet, I am now speed 9 magic 6 time will tell I suppose but I cant stress enough how much fun the game is!

Your magic is really low. By act 2 should be more like 9, 10 plus.

thanx that is the path I am heading on currently I am an alchemist with a speed of 8 magic 4 I suppose like any other game a mage is difficult at first, again thanx for the input.

My advise is to learn the alchemist then swap for the pyromancer career. Pyromancer gives you two super abilities to see you through the rest of the book. Alchemist gives boost to magic items to help in combats.

I also advise you keep your speed and magic high and ignore armour because you don't need it at all. With my mage the arena combats were the hardest to finish because of not enough fast damage. Quests first then worry about those hard fights is my tip.

I'm afraid there won't be any more bonus content for LoS. The bonus quests (Waking the Dead and The Betrayed), which are included in the special edition of the book, are the only extras.

From a narrative point-of-view, I can't really add further content to LoS, as the story technically continues with HoF.

There are team battles in HoF where you can link up your first hero with your second to take on epic bosses. So, you get to re-use your hero again and earn some nice rewards for your team.

There won't be any bonus content for HoF as I managed to pack everything into the book. ;)

Hitting the end game

Hi everyone. I've finished book one with my ranger character. Will there be any new download quests added to book one to continue the story and the character? I spent so much time seriously!! I want to keep on playing my hero!

I suppose anything new now will be for the second book?

Hi. The book is only currently published in the UK, so unless you have a local hobby store that might have copies, then online sadly may be your only option for now. There are quite a few US amazon marketplace sellers, who would probably have cheaper shipping to Canada.

On the amazon page there is a 'Click to Look Inside' feature. Not quite the same as having the book in your hands, but it details the rules and gives a few of the entries, as well as the maps. Same goes for Heart of Fire. Might help you come to a decision.

Obviously, I'd say - buy the book. ;)

Hey Blokka!

Alas, not as much as I'm sure you hoped. Sadly, I ran out of time on the changes, so couldn't make as many as I wanted. I concentrated mainly on Act 1 and early Act 2, improving that experience. In an ideal world I would have liked to address the end of Act 2 and Act 3.

On a positive note, before the release of the next LoS, I'll make available the complete item lists for the book, so that players can plan their builds better and see where their next upgrade could come from. I'm also willing to make the data available for anyone who might want to pull it all together into a fan database/website; make it easier to plan builds.

If you want warrior love, play HoF ;)

Yes, I believe they will at some point but not been told when. Presumably after the 11 April. The errata for Heart of Fire is also due to be added to the eBook versions in the very near future.
